Standard Online Blackjack Basic Strategy Rules
Here are the basic blackjack strategy rules for a standard six-deck game where blackjack pays 3-to-2 and the dealer must stand on soft 17.
Hard Hand Strategy in Online Blackjack
Totals that are six or below are always soft hands or splittable hands and must be addressed separately.
If your total is seven or eight, always hit. If your total is nine, double against a dealer upcard of three through six, simply hit otherwise.
If your total is 10, always double except against a 10 or an A, when you would just hit, if it is 11, always double except against an A, against which you will just hit.
If your total is 12, hit against a two, three or seven through A, stand against a four, five or six. If it is 13-16, stand against a two through six, otherwise hit. Always stand on 17.
Soft Hand Strategy in Online Blackjack
If you have a soft 13 or 14 (a hand containing an A, meaning they can be 3/13 or 4/14) double against a five or six, otherwise just hit. If you have a soft 15 or 16, double against a four, five or six otherwise just hit.
If you have a soft 17, double against a three, four, five or six otherwise hit. If you have a soft 18, stand against a two, seven or eight, double against 3-6, otherwise hit. Always stand on a soft 19 or 20.
Splitting Strategy in Online Blackjack
Always split aces. Split twos, threes and sevens against two through seven otherwise hit. Split fours against five or six otherwise hit. Never split fives (see rules for a 10 total). Split sixes against two through six otherwise hit.
Always split eights. Split nines against everything but a seven, ten or A, in which cases you would stand. Never split tens (any ten-point card counts as a ten).
